"2,3,4...JUMP!"

The weather has been so nice of late, we've been letting Kaila swim in the backyard. She's too big for her old kiddie pool, so we bought her a bigger inflatable pool. With the heat and humidity here in Illinois we can now understand why so many people have pools here!

We usually put Kenna in the old kiddie pool with some toys. But when we took her to play in the big pool, Sadie saw it as an opportunity to claim her spot.

It amazes us how much she loves those 2 fingers

A few videos below. The first one is a 2-for-1. Shows Kaila loving her pool, then ends with Sadie doing what she does best: trying to prey on innocent birds, but being denied by her leash. Her wolf instincts come out when she sees those birds in the yard.

Playing with friends...

With such nice weather here, we have been spending a lot of time outside, and so have our neighbors. Our neighbors behind us have two grand-daughters around the same ages as Kaila & Kenna that come over weekly to visit. Kaila has become very familiar with them and whenever she sees that they have come to visit, she instantly says, "there's Rivia [Olivia] friend." So she hurries up, gets her crocs on, and runs outside to play with her friend Olivia...it's pretty cute!

Anybody want some tea?
Having their own little tea party...
Running around the yard...
Thank goodness for this patch of flower weeds...sure kept them busy :)
Time to water the plants...
And feed the birds...
Even Kenna got into the action...
and played with a few friends...

Swimming in the Backyard

The past couple of days it has been super hot here (not that we're going to complain). So today we decided to let Kaila play in her little pool in the backyard. She really enjoyed herself!

Ready to go down the slide.......
.....SPLASH!
Got the tube on for safety.

Even Sadie was enjoying the nice weather.
Yet another time down the slide.......
........SPLASH!
Splashing, splashing

Celebrating Kaui's 27th Birthday

This past Sunday was Kaui's 27th birthday! On Friday, we went to the mall so she could pick out her birthday gift. Then on the day of, we went to watch "Shrek: The Final Chapter" in the theater. When we got home we BBQ'd a nice Beef Kalbi dinner, with potato salad, and CUPCAKES!!

On the way home from the mall, we bought Kaila a cherry-flavored Icee to keep her entertained in the back seat. When we pulled into the garage, we thought Kaila instantaneously got measles/chicken pox. It was just splattered Icee all over her face.
Kaui's birthday cupcakes. How delicious they were, yet so bad for the belly-fat.
Singing "Happy Birthday" for the Birthday Girl!!
Kaila helping Mommy blowout the candles....well, Kaui was blowing, Kaila was trying to blow, but ended up spitting.
Kaila enjoyed the cupcakes WAY too much.
It was a nice, quiet celebration for Kaui's birthday, just us. It was relaxing and good quality family time.

Kaui's Kreations blog...

So, I created a new blog for all the projects I have in store (right now in my head, but hopefully more will become tangible). It's called Kaui's Kreations (I've linked it for you). My first project I just posted is the Mother's Day gift I made for my mom, so feel free to check it out!

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a wonderful, simple, relaxing Mother's Day. Cisco cooked me a yummy breakfast: Croissant French Toast with Strawberries. And later took me to Shabbona Lake, which is about 30 minutes south of DeKalb (all because I kept complaining that I wanted to go to the beach!)

Oh how I miss being near water (the bathtub doesn't count!)
Isn't this the cutest father & daughter picture? (Kaila acting like her daddy with her hands in her pocket)
Right after we saw a frog, a fish jump out of the water, and a beaver/muskrat...
Good-bye Shabbona Lake...

Sittin' Sissy...

Kenna is finally able to sit up "all by herself" (as Kaila would say). It seemed as if right as we turned the 5 month corner, she decided she wanted to show off her new skill.

What to do with a bat & a ball...

Our big hope & dream is for Kaila to play softball someday, since Cisco was a baseball player and I just love the game of softball. So, here she is trying to figure out how to hit the ball. We forecast more of a golfer in the making ;)

What do I do with that ball?
Swing at it like this?

Kenna Found an Instrument to Play

Kenna has a new instrument to play. She used to do a lot of the Master P grunting, but it's now changed to playing the trumpet with her lips. She does it a lot and for no reason at all.

Kenna is 5 months!

Kenna turns 5 months today. Here are some pictures that showcase her new-found personality:
