Jonamac Apple and Pumpkin Orchard...

Yesterday, we went to the Jonamac Apple and Pumpkin Orchard in Malta, which is about five miles west of DeKalb. It's a neat little farm, with a petting zoo, small kiddie rides, playgrounds, and areas to pick your own apples and pumpkins. It was a nice Illinois fall day, so we decided to go. Kaila seemed very subdued the whole time, but I think she was just taking it all in, because as soon as we got into the car to leave, she got all excited & started to babble a whole lot. We all had a really good time. Anyway, here are some pictures:

Can't wait 'til Kaila can ride the ponies...

We finished the wooden maze...yay!

We didn't realize when we went, that Jonamac had a celebrity guest, and WE WERE ABLE TO MEET HIM. On showcase was the Boise Junior College mascot: Da Donkey. Here's a pic of Kaila greeting him. Daddy was behind the camera, giving the donkey "the bird."

Kaila petting a llama. For some reason, this llama kept following Cisco around the pen, with a look on its face asking, "are you my father?"

This little potbelly pig was so cute!! Believe it or not, it was the size of a rabbit.

This little goat was the cutest of all the animals. It was so tiny...

The wall of hay...
It took awhile, but Cisco finally figured out the "no-left turn" maze.
Kaila was so subdued during the visit. So Mommy tried to get a smile out of her...
Picking Sadie's and Kaila's baby pumpkin...
A field of pumpkins. As you can see, a lot had already been picked...
They had a hayride hauling visitors to and from the main area to the picking area. We caught a ride on the way back, since we forgot to grab a wheelbarrow.
Three pumpkins: Daddy, Mommy, and The Girls.
Riding the hayride back to the main park...
Sadie has been sleeping on our bed for a while now. She usually either sleeps at the foot of the bed, or in between our legs. But when we woke up this morning, Sadie was in a new spot: laying with her sister.
With it getting colder here, we bought Kaila some mittens and a winter cap. She looks like a Filipino-Hawaiian Eskimo.

Kaila is 9 months old...

Sorry it's taken us awhile to update the blog. We've been pretty busy trying to keep track of the Little Girl. It's safe to say now that she is MOBILE! She is crawling EVERYWHERE and grabbing and pulling on EVERYTHING. She pulls herself up to stand very easily and now has a running crawl. She gets to a spot quickly! Because she crawls everywhere, we have to put Sadie's water and food bowl up on the counter. We've caught Kaila many times splashing in Sadie's water bowl. We feel bad for Sadie because she'll sit and stare at her bowls on the counter. She'll even get a running start and try to jump up to her bowls on the counter.

Yesterday Kaila made 9-months! She had her 9-month check up. She now weighs 19 lbs. and is a little over 27 inches long. The doctor said that her weight is in the 70th percentile, and her height is in the 90th. In other words, compared to other baby girls her age, she's on the taller side, which is hard to believe to us, since she looks so petite. The doctor asked a series of questions, such as, "is she doing a, b, c, d, etc.?" The doctor came to the conclusion that Kaila is doing everything a 12-month old should be doing, except walking. So we are very blessed and we thank God that Kaila is developing well. Lastly, the doctor said that she can eat almost anything now, except for cow's milk, egg whites, peanut butter, and citrus fruits. Anything else is fair game. So we've been giving her little bits of shredded chicken, egg yolks, ground turkey, cheese, peas, Cheerios, and yogurt, and she likes them all. She especially loves to eat tofu.

Below are pictures from the week:

Notice her sticker from the Dr.
The two Grandma's sent the two girls care-packages full of goodies. Sadie got a new frisbee and a new squeeky toy from Grandma Alice & Grandma Lanette sent a bunch of books. Of course, Kaila had to come grab the squeaky toy and play with it. Sadie, being the good sister she is, waited patiently until Kaila was done.

Last Monday was Monday Night Football for the Saints (nearly a holiday in our house). So Daddy got the two girls dressed up in their Saints gear. Sadie, wearing her Reggie Bush jersey (which he then went on to run TWO punt returns for TD's), and Kaila wearing her Saints headband from the Sanborns. All for naught: the Saints blew it at the end.

Kaila didn't want to wear her headband anymore, so Mommy wore it instead. Kaila was laughing at Mommy.

Sadie wanted to be the baby. She looks like a stuffed animal in this pic. After a lot of yelling and cheering (and crying, but mostly on Daddy's part), the two girls were tired. Sadie was so heartbroken about the game, she cried herself to sleep in her Reggie Bush jersey.....oh wait....that was Daddy. We've also posted some new videos of Kaila. This first one was Kaila playing her "trumpet." Saliva flying everywhere....

This second one is showing Kaila's new ability of climbing stairs. We follow her, and she's getting faster and faster. It's good exercise for her. She likes it when we pretend to chase her up the stairs. Sadie usually runs to the top, lays on the first step with her head hanging over, cheering her sister on.

Kaila cruising by the couch: waving "hello" to everyone & blowing kisses

This last one is Kaila eating her Cheerios from her walker. She likes to stand next to it and climb and reach for the Cheerios. She'd rather do that than actually sit in her walker. We think she likes the challenge. Sadie, of course, lies underneath, waiting for something to drop.

Sadie's Blessing

This Sunday recognizes St. Francis of Asissi, who is the patron saint of animals. So our church had a little service for pets and animals to receive a blessing. So we brought Sadie to church with us, so she can get blessed (Lord knows she needs it at times).

This week....

Here are some new pics from the week:

She woke up from a nap all sweaty, and her hair was in a mohawk

Enjoying her Cheerios for breakfast

Kaila trying to play with Sadie, but Sadie just wanted to lounge in her spot on the couch.

We took out a few of our Halloween decorations. Sadie got a hold of the witch. She loved it so much, she stripped it of its clothing, and now plays with it constantly.

Today, we attempted to go the Kite Fest on campus. The weather was pretty rainy, so we didn't stay too long. It was enjoyable while we were there. Can't wait until Kaila gets older, so we can actually fly kites.

We had to get Kaila all bundled up, because it was kinda cold. She was sporting her Vandal beanie and shoes. She was so bundled up, she acted "paralyzed" in her carseat. Kaila and Kaui at the Sarah Palin-sponsored "Tolerated" same-sex exhibit of the Kite-Fest. HaHa! For some reason, Kaila didn't want to be held by her Daddy by the penguins.

In the school of fish... With the shark...

Cisco thinks it's the "patriotic thing to do, to pay taxes." And he does.... Kaila was happy to be headed home, so she can take her nap.
