Sisters...

Kaila wanted to hold Kenna, so I put Kenna next to her and the next thing you know they were both intently watching Backyardigans. It was just too precious of a moment, so I had to take a picture.

Day of baking...

We all felt like eating cupcakes...okay, maybe just me...so I decided to let Kaila help me with the prep & decorating. This she was very excited about because she always asks us to let her cook; especially when we're making eggs and we know what kind of mess that can be. Needless to say, she was a very big help and the cupcakes came out delicious!

Separating & putting the holders in: she actually did it all by herself!
Showing off her cupcakes...
YUMMY!

Rough night...

Here's Kenna after a rough night. I put her in there to play and the next thing you know, she was falling asleep. I guess that's what happens when she chooses to wake up at night.

Going down...
And she's out...

Extreme Makeover: Birdhouse Edition...

I found this birdhouse kit at Joann's and thought this would be the perfect project for Kaila since she always asks to paint. We painted for a whole hour, but we are still working on perfecting her painting skills (ain't no bird wanna live in this house ;) ). If you ask her who this house is for, she says, "a baby bird."

A clean slate...
Hard at work painting...
All done...
The end result: a freshly painted, multi-colored little bird house...

Kenna's new toy...

Kenna loves her new activity center, so here she is having a grand 'ole time playing in it. It's so neat to see her playing with the different toys because it just goes to show how fast she is growing!

Taking a break to smile for the camera

Here is some video of Kenna playing. We're trying to get better at posting more videos of her, but the time is just flying by & we don't even know it!

Kaila making rice art...

As Kaila is getting older she is able and wanting to do more projects, so I've been trying to find more things for her to do. Here she is trying her hand at rice art. She loves to play with rice for some reason. Every time we go to make rice she wants some. So we made some art for a while, then she started to count handfuls of rice, which was awesome because it kept her busy for a good 45 minutes to 1 hour.

*On a side note: It is a little messy, but nothing that can't be cleaned up with a hand-held vacuum*

Proud of her artwork...
It's a bird, no it's a plane...she said it was a monkey...
Counting rice...
Still counting...

Kenna lovin' her some rice cereal...

Today, Kenna got to try some rice cereal for the first time. And to our surprise (well compared to the reaction we got from Kaila when she first tried rice cereal...Kaila gagged a whole lot), Kenna loved it!
Her game face...
A little unsure...
It's a winner!
Yummy...
All done!

Happy Easter!

It was a beautiful Easter day here in Illinois. The weather was prime for an Easter egg hunt. Kaila got to participate in our church egg hunt and was able to collect quite a bit of eggs compared to last years 3. She took her time at collecting eggs and was sure to shake each one to see if there was something in it, before she put it into her basket. The weather was also better than the rain we endured for the Easter egg hunt the day before at Hopkins Park (no pictures of that one because we didn't want to ruin our camera in the rain).

One egg...
Two egg...
Shake, shake, shake...
Three egg...
Four egg...
Shake, shake, shake...
Five egg...
Still going...

Coloring Easter eggs...

We colored Easter eggs the day before Easter after picking up Grandpa from the train station. Kaila was much more into it this year compared to last (check out last year---->(http://thereyesohana.blogspot.com/2009/04/easter-egg-hunt-and-coloring-eggs.html)). Her favorite part of coloring the eggs was saying good-bye to them as she dropped them in the cup..."buh-bye egg!"

Mommy doing the coloring with the crayon...
Now putting it in the dye..."Buh-bye egg!"
Grandpa & Sissy looking on...
Kaila trying her hand at coloring...
Kaila singing while Daddy colors...
Getting "more egg" as she would say...
The end results!
And this year the Easter Bunny actually did come to visit us, although a day early. He sat in our front yard for most of the afternoon and evening until we got too close to him and scared him away, unintentionally of course.

Kenna is 4 months old!

Kenna turned 4 months old on the 2nd and is just getting so big, so fast! At her 4 month check-up she weighed in at 13 lbs 9 oz and 25 inches long. This makes her 70 % heavier and 90% taller than girls her age. We feel so blessed to have a happy, healthy lil' girl :)

Happy 4 months!
This will be the infamous sisterly picture when they grow up. Tried to get them closer together, but both of them weren't having it.
