Kaila Missed Sadie

Today, Kaui dropped Sadie off at Petco for her monthly grooming. Usually Cisco drops her off, but since he was in school, Kaui and Kaila had to do it. After they dropped her off and started walking back towards the car, Kaui said that Kaila's face slowly "turned upside down," starting breathing shallow, which turned into a whimper, and eventually into an all out cry. As they walked in the parking lot, it's like Kaila knew that they had left Sadie at some place. She eventually stopped crying during the drive home. When they got home, Kaui showed Kaila a video of Sadie, and Kaila started crying again. Just goes to show that not only does Kaila love Sadie and miss her when she was gone, but Kaila is very well aware of what's going on around her. I don't know what she (and us) will do when we're away from Sadie for a week (in New Hampshire) and for 2.5 weeks (when we're in Hawai'i).

It's so neat to see Kaila's development. She's very aware of her surroundings and her comprehension amazes us. We don't know what's "normal" at her age when it comes to this stuff, but either way, we're amazed. We'll give her a piece of paper and tell her to "throw it away," and she'll walk to the garbage, throw it away, and walk back to us. Yesterday, she was on the couch and was looking at our wedding picture of Kaui and her bridesmaids. She recognized her Auntie Shannon and starting pointing and saying, "Auntie, Auntie." Even after two weeks, she remembered Shannon and how she taught Kaila how to say "auntie." She starts to copy what you do and say (if she can say it). She loves to be read to; she'll grab a book and come to one of us and want us to read it to her. She knows what's Cisco's and Kaui's, like keys, cell phones, and clothes. She'll grab it and personally deliver it to whom it belongs. She's starting to dance by stepping really fast, sometimes in a circle, or what Cisco calls, "quick feet." Cisco can't wait to teach her how to top-rock, so she can be a b-girl. Today, Cisco was working on his windmills on the floor, and Kaila would start on her hands and knees, then lay on her back like her Dad. Kaila can successfully locate her head, ears, eyes, nose, mouth, belly, hands, feet, and even her butt. She'll also point to her nose and walk around saying, "boog-boog."

We know that our time with family is just around the corner and we are SO excited for those times to come so they can spend some time with Kaila.

Oh, and the other big news recently: IDAHO VANDAL FOOTBALL IS COMING HERE TO DEKALB ON SEPTEMBER 26th TO TAKE HOME SOME HUSKIE MEAT! It would be an understatement to say that Cisco's excited. He is so passionate about Vandal Athletics and it means so much to him that he'll be able to watch them, in person, all the way out here in Illinois. We're excited that his family is coming for the game, and hopefully some friends will be able to make it too.

I-D-A-H-O, IDAHO IDAHO GO GO GO!!
