ROAD TRIP!

On Sunday, July 11th we began our first major road trip from Illinois all the way down to Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The National Strength and Conditioning Association National Conference was held at Disneyworld and my research was accepted for presentation at the conference. How convenient! So we piled into our Pilot and began our 3- day trek to Florida.

Car was packed to the brim....

Quick stop for something to eat in Hebron, IN

Our first leg of the trip took us from DeKalb to Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Along the way we stopped in Hebron, IN and right outside of Indianapolis, IN. We got in around 10pm into Elizabethtown, KY where we spent our first night.

During the second day's trip, we stopped by a children's museum in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, which is about 40 miles southeast of Nashville. We went there so that Kaila had a chance to run around and let out some energy.

We got there a little early, so we played at the kids playground right outside of the museum. They even had a trail so you could walk through the wetlands. Kaila saw a bunch of ducks, a muskrat, and some storks.
Kenna was ready to go down the slide, but instead waited for her Ate.
Kaila being the good big sister and holding her sissy so they could go down the slide together.
Weeeeeee......
Cooking in the kitchen inside the museum
What was nice about this museum was that they had a play area for babies. So Kenna had the opportunity to sit, crawl, and stand.

"Do these shorts make my butt look big?"

Driving a vintage car.
Outside in the museum parking lot: Hawaiians DO exist in Tennessee!
The second day's travels took us from Elizabethtown, KY to Locust Grove, Georgia, which is about 40 miles south of Atlanta. During the trip we stopped in Murfreesboro, TN and Dalton, GA.

Our last leg went from Locust Grove, GA to Disneyworld. Along the way we stopped in Valdosta, GA for a quick break and in Gainesville, Florida where we took a nice, longer break inside the mall for lunch, a quick stroll around the mall, and a chance for Kaila to play in their play area.

At around 4pm, we rolled into our final destination
Our hotel

After Kaui got us all settled into our hotel room, we couldn't contain our excitement to be there, that we headed over to Downtown Disney to walk around. We should've known better than to go there at night; it was packed. And with our tank-of-a-stroller, it was hard to navigate around the big crowds, so we didn't stay very long.

First time in the stroller at Disney. Waiting for the shuttle.

.....and Aurora. The trip down was smooth and we couldn't have asked for better conditions. It was quick and efficient and we got into each location earlier than expected. It was a very nice and easy drive down to Florida.

OMG! You are your Tita Margie's nephew! You and her are the only ones who can pack a car like that. Where did Kaui sit? Kaila is getting some color!
